A summit in the NW of the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, South Clettraval (Gael: Cleitreabhal a Deas) rises to 133m (436 feet) a half-mile (1 km) south of North Clettraval and 1½ miles (2.5 km) east northeast of Balranald. There is a significant communications facility on its summit associated with RAF Benbecula, including golf ball-shaped antennae which track aircraft operating within British airspace, as part of the UK Air Surveillance and Control System (ASACS). There are also television, radio and several mobile telephone transmitters located here. These facilities is accessed by a metalled road which proceeds east from the A865 at Tigharry and also provides access to the St. Kilda View Point. Its southern slopes are of archaeological interest, with a standing stone and pair of chambered cairns, one of which lies next to an Iron Age wheelhouse.
