A stream in Dumfries and Galloway, the Lochar Water rises as the Park Burn to the north of Dumfries and flows 18 miles (29 km) southwards to join the Solway Firth near Ruthwell. At low tide it traverses a further 5 miles (8 km) of sand flats.
