Liddel Water

An important river of the Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway, the Liddel Water is formed by the meeting of the Hartwell, Wormscleuch and Peel Burns in the Dead Water bog near Saughtree in Liddesdale. It flows 15 miles (24 km) southwestwards to Kershopefoot, where it becomes the English Border for the next 11 miles (18 km) until it falls into the River Esk 1½ miles (2.5 km) south of Canonbie and 12 miles (19 km) north of Carlisle.
