A little inlet on the S coast of the island of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Loch Laphroaig lies 1¼ miles (2 km) east of Port Ellen. Laphroaig Distillery is occupies a picturesque setting on its northern shore. A line of rocks, Sgeirean Dubha, extend out from the entrance of the loch.
