River Beauly

A river in Highland Council Area, the Beauly River is formed by the meeting of the River Glass and the River Farrar at Struy. It meanders northeastwards for 16 miles (26 km) before opening out into the Beauly Firth. On its banks stand the town of Beauly and Beaufort Castle, but the once-spectacular falls at Kilmorack were lost following the building of a hydro-electric scheme in the 1960s.
