Stinking Bay

A little embayment on the north coast of Great Cumbrae in North Ayrshire, Stinking Bay lies next to the B896 road, a mile (1.6 km) north northeast of Bell Bay. It gains its name from rotting seaweed which can give rise to an unfortunate smell. A burial mound containing a broken cremation urn was found behind the bay by a labourer in 1881.
