Peterhead Bay

Peterhead Bay lies to the south of the town of Peterhead in Aberdeenshire and forms a natural harbour for the town, later enclosed by breakwaters to form a vast Harbour of Refuge, part of the Port of Peterhead. At its northern extreme, it is bounded by the headland of Keith Inch while to the south lies the settlement of Burnhaven. Brickwork Bay, an indentation within Peterhead Bay, was partially infilled by the South Bay Harbour development, the remainder enclosed by breakwaters. A seaplane station was briefly established in the south of the bay in 1918, an area now forming an oil support base.
