Adambrae

A residential district of SW Livingston (West Lothian), Adambrae lies between Dedridge ad Bellsquarry, a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Almondvale. Bisected by a stream, the area comprises large detached private houses and, in 1995, was the last community planned by the Livingston Development Corporation, with construction beginning three years later. The name Adambrae is transplanted from a locality that included a farmstead and a mill once situated on the southern bank of the River Almond at present-day Almondvale. The street of Adambrae are all 'Glades' with botanically-oriented names such as Bramble Glade, Cypress Glade, Hollyhock Glade, Silverbirch Glade, Sundew Glade and Woodrush Glade. There are no local facilities; the closest shops are in the town centre and nearest schools are in Dedridge. Adambrae Cemetery opened in 1990, only the second in the town after the churchyard surrounding Livingston Old Parish Church.
