Pan Hope

A significant inlet which shapes the northeastern coastline of the island of Flotta in Orkney, Pan Hope opens into the Sound of Hoxa and Scapa Flow between Quoy Ness and Roan Head. It is 1½ miles (2.5 km) in length and widens from a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to ¾ mile (1.2 km) at its entrance. There is a pier at Pan on its southern shore while, at its head, is a section of water known as Curries Firth and the Flotta Oil Terminal.
