The seat of the Mackenzie Earls of Cromartie, Castle Leod stands a mile (1.5 km) to the north of Strathpeffer in Easter Ross. Built in the 12th Century, the five-storeyed keep was remodelled in 1606 by Sir Roderick Mackenzie (d.1625).
