Boat House on Lochnaw Loch

A small loch mostly surrounded by woodland, Lochnaw Loch is located 2 miles (3 km) west of Leswalt on the Rhins of Galloway. It contains a small islet on which can be found the ruins of the original Lochnaw Castle, destroyed in 1390 by Archibald the Grim, 3rd Earl of Douglas (1320 - c.1400). A later castle lies on the southern shore of the loch and is still occupied.
