A headland located the east of the entrance to Loch Striven on the Cowal Peninsula in S Argyll and Bute, Ardyne Point is the site of a short-lived oil rig construction yard built by Sir Robert McAlpine as a result of the North Sea oil boom of the 1970s. Only three rigs were ever constructed here before its closure in the 1980s, the last being the Cormorant "A" platform.
