Heads of Ayr

A headland on the South Ayrshire coast, the Heads of Ayr extends into the sea 4 miles (7 km) south of Ayr. It is regarded as being at the southern extremity of the Firth of Clyde. A Butlin's holiday camp was opened here in the 1930s and is now operated by Haven Holidays. Heads of Ayr railway station served the camp until the line closed in 1968. This is also the location of the Heads of Ayr Farm Park.
