Forest of Atholl

An area of deer forest in highland Perth and Kinross, Atholl Forest extends over 40470 ha (100,000 acres) of rugged mountain landscape. Once more extensively wooded than it is today, the Forest of Atholl is first recorded in the 12th Century as a baronial forest with special rights and privileges.
