Located 500m east of the village of Tomatin, some 14 miles (22 km) south southeast of Inverness, the Findhorn Viaduct conveys the Perth - Inverness main railway line 49m (160 feet) above the valley of the River Findhorn. Built between 1894 and 1897, this impressive curved viaduct is some 400m (438 yards) in length and consists of nine spans of lattice-steel structure supported on stone-work piers. This viaduct was built by Sir John Fowler (1817-98) and Murdoch Paterson (1826-98). It should not be confused with another Findhorn Viaduct near Forres.
