Strathbogie

(Strath Bogie)

A district and a valley of NW Aberdeenshire, Strathbogie (also Strath Bogie) stretches east and west of the River Bogie with the town of Huntly at its centre. It forms an outlier of the Grampian Mountains with fertile valleys running out into the northeast lowlands. In Mediaeval times Strathbogie was a lordship controlling strategic routes to the north.
