Hunterston Castle

Hunterston Castle is a 13th Century Pele Tower located on the North Ayrshire coast overlooking the Firth of Clyde and near the settlement of Hunterston. A Hunter family home until the early 19th century it underwent restoration work by Sir Robert Lorimer (1864 - 1929) and has many unique features. The basement room is well preserved whilst the original roof beams with carpenters' marks can be seen. It is now the centre for the Clan Hunter Association World-wide. Nearby are Hunterston 'A' and 'B' Nuclear Power Stations.
