Cradlehall

A growing residential district of Inverness (Highland Council Area), lying a half-mile (1 km) west of Westhill and 2½ miles (4 km east of the city centre. A primary school, a nursery and a residential care home are located here, together with a business park and a few shops.

The area takes its name from an 18th C. mansion which was home to Major William Caulfeild (1698 - 1767), who was HM Inspector of Roads from 1732 and also Deputy Governor of Inverness Castle from 1747. His name is remembered in several streets here.
