Halliwell's House Museum

The Halliswell's House Museum is located in the town of Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. Taking its name from Walter Halliwell, an 18th Century wig-maker who lived here, the museum charts the history of the town. It shows how people would have lived in cramped conditions, as well recreating ironmonger's and shoemaker's shops, together with a Victorian school-room. Also on display is the Flodden Flag, said to be a captured English Standard brought back to Selkirk by the only local man to return from the disastrous Battle of Flodden in 1513. Temporary exhibits are housed in the Robson Gallery.
