Kinneil Museum

A museum located in the 17th century former stable block of the Kinneil Estate, the Kinneil Museum is located a mile (1.5 km) southwest of Bo'ness. Run by the Falkirk Museums Service, the museum provides an interpretation centre for Kinneil House and Estate, illustrating the history of the area from Roman time to the present day. The museum has displays on the Kinneil Fortlet, which was once a defensive point on the Antonine Wall, the ruined mediaeval village and church of Kinneil, Kinneil House, once a home of the Dukes of Hamilton, and a cottage in which James Watt (1736 - 1819) built steam engines. The museum also contains a number of artefacts which have been found in the vicinity.
