Museum of the Grand Lodge of Scotland

A small museum located within the Long Gallery of Freemasons' Hall at 96 George Street in Edinburgh. Founded in 1807, the Museum of the Grand Lodge of Scotland is unique in Scotland, containing objects associated with Freemasonry. Its collection consists of ceramics, glassware, furniture, Masonic aprons, medals (known as jewels), paintings, photographs, silverware and numerous other artefacts, including some items which belonged to poet and noted freemason Robert Burns (1759-96) such as a portrait of Burns in Masonic Regalia.

The Library includes books and manuscripts relating to Masonic subjects, together with the world's oldest Masonic records (the Schaw Statutes) that date from 1598 and 1599 which, together with the St. Clair Charters of c.1601 and c.1628, shed light on the origins of Freemasonry and its evolution from the craft of the stone-mason.
