Slochd Summit

A well-signposted elevation midway between Carrbridge and Tomatin in SE Highland, Slochd Summit is the highest point of Slochd Mor. The railway reaches 401m (1315 feet) while the A9 Trunk Road is higher at 405m (1328 feet). A freight train making the long descend from Slochd Summit derailed at Carrbridge in 2010 when its brakes failed in freezing conditions.
