Eaval

(Eabhal)

The distinctively-shaped mountain of Eaval (Gael: Eabhal) dominates its low-lying position in the extreme southeast of North Uist, in the Outer Hebrides, on a lobe of land between Loch Obisary and the Little Minch. Representing the highest point on the island, it reaches a height of 347m (1138 feet) and, in good weather, offers remarkable views of a loch-studded landscape. Walkers can best approach the hill via the roadend at Sidinish, navigating the eastern shore of Loch Obisary via the slopes of Burrival.
