Braidwood Bridge

An impressive single-arched reinforced concrete structure, the Braidwood Bridge carries the B6372 road high over the River South Esk, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) northeast of Temple in Midlothian. Built c.1930, it was B-listed in 1998. It incorporates the parapets from the old Carrington Mill Bridge, dating from 1811, which was erected by Robert Dundas of Arniston (1758 - 1819), then Chief Baron of the Exchequer. The remains of this bridge lie abandoned a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the north.
