A large red sandstone boulder perched on the top of Barbay Hill, the highest point on the island of Great Cumbrae, the Glaid Stone was deposited from nearby strata by glacial action. It has the names of visitors etched on it, together with more modern memorials attached remembering people who enjoyed the view.
