(Caolas Orasaigh)

The Sound of Orosay (Gael: Caolas Orasaigh) is the name given to the stretch of water that separates the island of Barra from the island of Orosay to the northeast. At low tide the sands are used as a landing strip for small aircraft. The airstrip is known as Cockle Strand.
