A T-plan fortified house, comprising two storeys and an attic, Ecclesiamagirdle House overlooks a small loch on the south side of Strath Earn, 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Bridge of Earn. It was built in 1648, with one wing incorporating the stair capped by a watch-chamber, and another wing added later. The lands belonged to the Halyburtons of Pitcur, but passed to the Carmichaels of Balmedie in 1629, and it was Sir David Carmichael who built the house. His initials, along with those of his wife, appear on a panel above the entrance. The house later passed to the Drummond Hays, who also own Glenearn House just to the northeast. A ruined chapel and doocot lie adjacent.
