Loch Dornal

A loch on the border of South Ayrshire with Dumfries and Galloway, Loch Dornal lies 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Barrhill and adjacent to Loch Maberry, which lies to the southwest. To the northwest are a group of smaller lochs; Drumlamford Loch, Loch Nahinie and Loch Gower. Extending to 44.2 ha (109 acres), Loch Dornal includes several small islets and represents a popular recreational fishery. It casts off the Carrick Burn to the east, which is a tributary of the River Cree.
