Pressmennan Loch

(Pressman Loch; Pressmennan Lake)

A narrow man-made loch of East Lothian, Pressmennan (also Pressman) Loch (or Pressmennan Lake) lies in a steep ravine at the eastern end of the Lammermuir Hills, a mile (1.5 km) southeast of Stenton. Created in 1819, the reservoir is 1¼ miles (2 km) in length and surrounded by mixed woodland, part of which is said to represent one of the last traces of Scotland's ancient native woodland. Otters are found in the loch.
