Camphill Reservoir

Located some 3 miles (5 km) west of Kilbirnie in North Ayrshire, the Camphill Reservoir lies a short distance southeast of the later Muirhead Reservoir and is the source of the Rye Water. Retained by an earth embankment dam, it occupies an area of 46.6 ha (115 acres). It was constructed by Paisley Corporation Water Works, opening in 1881, to supply drinking water to that town and is today operated by Scottish Water.
