Forrestburn Reservoir

Forrestburn Reservoir is located 1½ miles / 2.5 km northeast of Kirk o' Shotts in North Lanarkshire, on the opposite side of the M8 Motorway, and 2 miles / 3 km southwest of Blackridge. It was built on the course of the Forrestburn Water in the later 19th C. by Bathgate District Water Works and later taken over by West Lothian County Council Water Department to supply water to the towns of Armadale and Bathgate. Retained by an earth-embankment dam at its eastern end, it is now owned by North Lanarkshire Council but no longer supplies drinking water. The reservoir provides popular fishing for roach, perch and pike.
