Cutting across the border between Perth & Kinross and Highland Council Areas, southwest of Dalwhinnie, the top of A' Mharconaich is a flat plateau with a lower summit to the southwest, reaching just beyond 970m / 3182 feet and a cairn located to the northeast, which rises to a height of 973m (3193 feet). The mountain qualifies as a Munro. The eastern face is particularly steep with a high corrie located just under the summit, and with a great nose extending to the northeast. The name originates from Gaelic and means "the horse place".
