The Binks, South Queensferry

A rock formation in the Firth of Forth, just west of South Queensferry harbour. The rocks form a natural jetty and until c.1812, it was from this jetty that passengers embarked to travel over the Firth of Forth to Fife on the Queen's Ferry. The ferry took its name from St. Margaret (1045-93), Queen of Malcolm III, who endowed ships to take pilgrims over the river on the route north to St. Andrews.
