Nith Bridge Cross

An Anglian sculptured cross-shaft located in a field next to the A702 road in Dumfries and Galloway, the Nith Bridge Cross lies a short distance west of Nith Bridge and the River Nith and a half-mile (1 km) west of Thornhill. The richly-carved monument is composed of pink sandstone and stands 2.75m (9 feet) in height. It dates from the late 9th or 10th Century AD.
