South Glen Shiel Ridge


(South Cluanie Ridge)

A mountainous ridge comprising seven Munros and several other summits in the W of the Highland Council Area, centred between Glen Shiel, Glen Cluanie and Glen Quoich, the South Glen Shiel Ridge (also known as the South Cluanie Ridge) extends to 9 miles (14 km). It includes the summits of Creag nan Damh (918m / 3011 feet), Sgurr Beag (896m / 2939 feet), Sgurr an Lochain (1004m / 3293 feet), Sgurr an Doire Leathain (1010m / 3313 feet), Sgurr Coire na Feinne (902m / 2959 feet), Maol Chinn-dearg (981m / 3218 feet), Aonach air Chrith (1021m / 3349 feet), Druim Shionnach (987m / 3238 feet) and Creag a' Mhaim (947m / 3106 feet). It is more than 7½ miles (12 km) in length but it is possible to complete the traverse in one day. It is reported to be one of the finest Scottish mountain ranges, with its height only once dropping below 800m (2625 feet).
