(Calbhaigh)

A small uninhabited island located close to the head of Loch Eynort on the east coast of South Uist, Calvay (Gael: Calbhaigh) lies between the settlements of North Locheynort and South Locheynort, and is accessible from the north shore at low tide. It rises to approximately 16m (52 feet) above sea level and extends to 31 ha (76 acres) in area. There is another Calvay at the mouth of Loch Boisdale, only 7 miles (11 km) to the south southeast.
