Argyllshire

A former county of W Scotland, Argyllshire is the home of the Clan Campbell. Now part of Argyll and Bute Council Area, it was divided between Strathclyde and Highland regions between 1975 and 1996. Its county town was Inveraray and its area as a county extended to 8055 sq. km (3110 sq. miles) of indented coastline, mountainous countryside and islands in the Inner Hebrides.
