Oronsay


(Orasaigh)

A rock trimmed island joined to the north coast of Vallay in the Outer Hebrides by a tombolo, Oronsay (Gael: Orasaigh) is situated 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Sollas in North Uist. The remains of the religious foundation of Teampull Orain are to be found here. There is another much larger island of the same name located 4 miles (6.5 km) to the east.
