Machair Leathann

An area of actively farmed machair which forms the core of the Grenitote Peninsula on the north coast of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Machair Leathann lie to the northeast of Sollas, providing common grazings for that settlement, together with Grenitote and Dunskellar. Lines of sand dunes separate the machair from the sea. There was once an aerodrome here, and planes still sometimes land on the wide sands of Traigh Ear to the east.
