Callendar Park

A public park to the southeast of Falkirk town centre, Callendar Park represents the former policies of Callendar House bought by Falkirk Town Council in 1963. The park includes a bird sanctuary, a boating loch, an ice-house, a doocot, the Forbes Mausoleum, Callendar Wood and Callendar Business Park which was developed in 1992 on the site of the former walled garden. Callendar House was built as a square keep by the Livingstone family in the 14th Century and was later acquired and extended by William Forbes from 1783. It is now the headquarters of Falkirk Museums Service and features a museum and local history archive. A section of the 38-mile (61 km) long Roman Antonine Wall passes through the park which also contains the Callendar Park Technical College.
