Dalchonzie Power Station

A small power station on the right bank of the River Earn situated 2 miles (3 km) west of Comrie in Perth and Kinross, Dalchonzie began generation in 1958 as part of the Breadalbane Hydro-Electric Power Scheme. Water descends through a 3-mile / 5-km tunnel from the tailrace of St. Fillans Power Station at the eastern end of Loch Earn, falling a vertical distance of just 29m (95 feet). The tall heavily-glazed station building is faced in local stone and contains a single turbine with a capacity of 4 MW. The tailrace discharges into the River Earn.
