Dunaverty Rock

A rocky headland and Scheduled Ancient Monument near Southend on the south coast of the Kintyre Peninsula, Dunaverty Rock, also known as Bloody Rock, looks out over beaches and a golf course. A former stronghold of the Macdonalds which once stood here was the scene of a massacre in 1647 when 300 people were put to death by Covenanters under General Leslie.
