Espedair Burn

The Espedair Burn forms from a series of streams which descend from the Gleniffer Braes, together with the outflow from the Stanely Reservoir in Renfrewshire. It then flows through Paisley, mostly in culverts, before falling into the White Cart Water to the south of Gordon Street, opposite Anchor Mills. In the 19th C., its waters were used by the town's industries, including bleachworks, dyeworks, starchworks and printworks. The stream has been subject to flooding and flood prevention measures were implemented 2005-07.
