An area of boggy moorland lying between Bowden Hill and Lochcote Reservoir in the Bathgate Hills of West Lothian, The Loch represents a former natural body of water which was drained in the 19th C. Formerly known as Lochcote (the same as the present-day reservoir), there was an Iron Age crannog forming an artificial island within the loch but the logs which formed it were burned by locals when it was drained.
