A foot-bridge which crosses the River Ayr in Ayr (South Ayrshire), Turner's Bridge lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) east of the town centre. The bridge has been C-listed since 1980 and comprises five latticework steel and cast-iron arches supported on red sandstone piers. Constructed at the expense of Mr A.M. Turner, who owned a brewery next to the bridge and wanted to provide an easy route across the river for his workers, the bridge was opened on 12th September 1900. It was the work of engineer John Eaglesham (1855 - 1922), a local man who had been Burgh Surveyor until the previous year but then entered private practice with his brother.
