Lady's Tower

A roofless circular tower located behind Ruby Bay at Elie in Fife, Lady's Tower was built in the 1770s as a summerhouse and bathing house for Janet Fall, Lady Anstruther, wife of the laird of Ardross and Elie estate, but was in ruins by the mid 19th C. Lady Anstruther is said to have enjoyed sea-bathing and sent a bell-ringer around Elie to warn the local people to keep away, to protect her modesty. The tower has been C-listed since 1980.
