Loch Gordon

The northernmost of three narrow ornamental lochans which appear to be expansions of the Gogar Burn in Edinburgh Park, Loch Gordon is located in front of British Telecom's Alexander Graham Bell House, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) south southeast of Gogar Roundabout and 4½ miles (7 km) west southwest of the city centre. It is named after Gordon Paterson, Edinburgh Park's first manager. The Gogar Burn is actually diverted into a culvert rather than passing through the lochs because of high nitrate levels, due to agricultural runoff, which could harm wildlife. The lochs are actually maintained with recirculated mains water.
