A public park and playing fields in Bonnyrigg in Midlothian, King George V Park (or King George's Field) lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) northwest of the town centre. Extending to 3 ha (7.4 acres), it represents one of a network of parks which serve as a memorial to King George V, who died in 1936. It is protected in perpetuity by Fields in Trust (formerly the National Playing Fields Association) but is managed by Midlothian Council. Bonnyrigg War Memorial is located within an enclosed garden here (unveiled 1923) and there is a memorial to Scottish miners' leader Mick McGahey (1925-99) by Leith-based artist Andrew McFetters, which was unveiled in 2006. Facilities within the park include full-size and seven-a-side football pitches, a skate park and a sports pavilion. Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre was locate here but closed in 2013 with the opening of the Lasswade Centre. Local residents prevented the demolition of the building, which reopened as a community hub and play centre, run by the Bonnyrigg Centre Trust.
The David Dunn Fitness Trail opened here in 2017 to commemorate a retired mining engineer from Poltonhall who was shot dead in 1994 while trying to thwart thieves who had stolen £185,000 from the Bank of Scotland on Bonnyrigg's High Street.
