Annandale Way

A walking route in the Southern Uplands of Dumfries & Galloway, the Annandale Way connects Annan on the Solway Firth, Moffat and the Devil's Beef Tub on the boundary with the Scottish Borders, passing along the entire length of the River Annan, from source to sea. It extends to 55 miles (88 km) and includes two circular sections - between Lochmaben and Lockerbie, and the northernmost section beyond Ashybank. It can be walked in four or five days. The route was officially opened by Lady Hope Johnstone on 12th September 2009, having been developed by the Sulwath Connections Landscape Partnership who aim to conserve, enhance and promote the northern coastline of the Solway Firth. The Annandale Way shares the same route as the Southern Upland Way for a distance of 1¼ miles (2 km), to the north of Beattock.
