Situated towards the east of the High Street in Linlithgow (West Lothian), St. Michael's Well takes the form of a decorative well-head dating from 1720 surmounted by a stone-carved figure of the Archangel Michael supporting a shield that bears the town's arms. Words below reminds passers-by that Saint Michael is kinde to straingers. A stone pedestal approx. 1.8m (6 feet) in height encloses a spring. The carving was brought from the old Cross Well, which was damaged in 1660 and refurbished in 1807. St Michael's Well was A-listed in 1971.
